Mi vida en Honduras
For this project we researched a Spanish speaking country and wrote a children’s novel in Spanish about the culture and lifestyle of that country. Then we read aloud to a Spanish-speaking group of elementary kids at Needham and Park Elementary. I did my project on Honduras located in Central America. This Project taught me writing skills and comprehension skills in the Spanish language.
Exhibition with Del Alma (Young Children)
The exhibition with Del Alma was a very neat experience. The thing that was most enjoyable was being able to interact with the younger kids that were fluent in Spanish. Reading the stories to them was a first a little intimidating but they were very helpful with the pronunciation. Advice I would give to next year’s sophomores during this exhibition is to be very firm with some of the kids that get a little hipped up. Over all this experience was very pleasant.
Project Reflection: Not Born in the U.S.A
The skills I developed from this project are writing in Spanish and pronunciation skills. I learned how to correctly conjugate verbs using ser, and to apply that in constructing a sentence. Learning the correct pronunciation for reading my book was not an easy challenge. I found the only way to master this skill is by practice. As you can see I have yet a glorious road filled with wondrous learning ahead, and looking forward to my next semester in Spanish.
Arte y Lengua
For this project we were given a list of various Spanish-speaking artists, and given the choice to choose one of them. With that artist, we were supposed to create a piece of art that replicates his or her style. Then we described that art (in Spanish), and described the artist too. This project involved us to use our art skills learned in Digital Media last year, and involved us to use our Spanish skills in writing the description.
This Project was really effective in improving what I initially learned in Spanish this year. One of which is using esta (to be) in the right from. “Mi esta classe espanol” I am in Spanish class. My artist Antoni Guidí, is an architect from Spain. His works replicates organic qualities, and things found in nature. One of his works is Sagrada Familia; a massive Cathedral in Barcelona, Spain that began being built in the early 1900s and still is today. I’m pretty proud of this project because I took a different tact than I usually do. Have you ever herd of minecraft? It is a computer game where you can literally can build anything! And I built my project in it. If I were to do this again I would go even more ambitious. I guess I found a hidden talent. The challenging part of this project was being sick. My kidney syndrome caused me a lot of stressed involving keeping up with my schoolwork. Luckily the stars aligned and I took advantage of having nothing to do in the Hospital. This project was the most effective project I had this year because it has taught me to be a better Spanish writer/speaker, and improved my art skills. |
La Comida de Lengua
For this project we were assigned to create a dish from a Spanish speaking country and write an ode about that dish. I made a corn bread from Paraguay call Chipa Guazú. It was very delicious.
Writing the ode was easier than I thought it would be. From doing the two projects prior I feel I have gained skills when writing in Spanish. One thing that I would tell up coming Spanish students is not to go too complicated. If you don’t go too ambitious as far as the writing part you get much more out of the project.
