LINK Project Proposal
LINK project Proposal
For my LINK internship in March 2014, I will be interning at Inside Durango TV, and Animas Media. Inside Durango TV is Durango’s local TV program that is passionate about the community, and have been making videos and advertising local businesses since 1983. The program highlights the culture, lifestyle, activities, and attractions that make southwest Colorado such an incredible place to be. Animas Media is an EMMY-nominated video production company providing video and television production services for clients ranging from local businesses to global corporations. Inside Durango TV is responsible for Durango’s local news on channel 15. My mentor, Matt Crossett who works at Durango TV, has a lot of film experience. He is a producer at Evidence Film Studios in Los Angeles. And whether its commercials, video games, or music videos, Matt has a diverse background for any of these projects. He now is in Durango and is involved with Inside Durango TV after his aunt Laurie Sigillito bought the business. When mentoring under Matt, my goals for this internship are to further improve my skills in filmmaking and educate myself through working with professionals with filmmaking. I hope to learn how to use professional camera equipment including, a professional camera, microphone, and all the various camera rigs used for filmmaking. Also I hope to learn and master a video-editing program called Final Cut Pro. And I hope to learn good camera techniques that will make my projects look professional and appealing. While learning new skills and perfecting other skills, I will also give back to the business through my LINK project. For my project I will be making a promotional video for Inside Durango TV, and by doing this I hope to make my peers of my own age recognize this business. Also help make the channel more popular. During this project I aspire to really build new skills and learn all I can in a professional environment. I hope to have a project worth watching. Through learning loads by creating this project, I will need some skills prior to this project. The skills or knowledge needed to complete this project are proficient camera skills, coordinating skills, and the proper camera equipment including a camera, microphone, and tripod. I will need to be proficient with Final Cut Pro, to edit the video, and I will need to have a passionate and eager attitude. |
To have the video done for LINK Exhibition the skills I have are not going to be enough. I need to be diligent with my free time to design what the video is going to entail, design a schedule for when I am going to film, and leave enough time to edit the video. This means making myself deadlines will make myself motivated to work efficiently and get the work done in a productive manner. And for the Link Exhibition I need to communicate with Libby to acquire a projector, screen, and speakers so that my peers and members of the community can see my work. By doing this I will have quality work, and minimal stress. Even if I have a plan for my LINK project, there will be challenges. The challenges that will most likely arise would be program malfunctions, loss of video files, lack of equipment, limited time, noisy interviews, shaky camera movement, and poor audio. Also there is a chance of theft of camera equipment, and not enough memory space on hard drives, or on computers. All of these problems have happened to me in the past. If these problems occur I will have a plan to push through them. I have had my video camera stolen before, and if this would happen to me again, I will ask to borrow a camera from Jonny Middleton, or from Inside Durango TV. With the editing process there is almost always problems involving that and I will overcome these problems by working through them, or ask one of my co-workers to help me. And in those times when you have shaky camera movement or bad audio quality, I will take all measures possible to make the video look professional. Even if there may be problems involving my LINK project, there are always ways to persevere. With my internship this spring I am very excited to learn more about filmmaking and film production. I expect that I will be challenged, and I feel I will be avidly learning all I can through the process. My LINK project will hopefully do some good in the community and help the business strive further. My mentor Matt will be awesome and help me see what may become in my future. The amount I will learn makes me really look forward to seeing how much my videos will improve from this year, to the years to come. This internship looks to be one that will greatly impact my passion in life. |
