Skittles Experiment

Picture
According to the Wrigley's Consumer Care Department, the fruit candies are produced in equal proportions— 20% of each of the five colors (green, red, orange, yellow, and purple). However, although these candies are made in equal proportions, the individual Skittles bags are filled by weight and by machines.

In order to create a more equal world, you have been tasked with determining the true portion of the five different colors of candy.

Directions:

  1. Open the Skittle Experiment Doc
  2. Organize your skittles into separate colors and find the following:
    1. Total number of skittles in your bag
    2. Percent green, red, orange, yellow, and purple
  3. Record your data on the master spreadsheet.
    1. Write your name, then input your percentages and total skittles into the corresponding cells.
  4. Answer the Discussion Questions on the doc.
